My musical education began when I was about 4 years old when I started to take violin and piano lessons. From the age of eleven I was helping my father repair pianos at our home. At the age of 21 I took over the business from my father as he decided he would retire. That was 36 years ago and I have been a piano tuner, tuning and maintaining pianos all over London since then.
My father was a piano tuner and violin maker and was trained by the legendary Mr Ewald Werner from Germany who had also been technical head of the Kemble piano factory here in the UK. I have been working for the Yamaha shop in Wardour Street, London for the last 14 years as a freelancer. This leaves me time to service my own clients which mainly consist of domestic pianos, schools, concert pianists, churches and many more.
I also worked for a year for Bluthner pianos in Mayfair. This has given me the unique experience of many years working on older pianos and also working for several years on brand new pianos which means I have a wealth of experience in all types of instruments in many types of situations.
I cover everything needed for piano maintenance and repair and I aim to give honest advice and friendly customer service. The Yamaha Music London store (formerly Chappells of Bond St) have a reputation for expertise, integrity, honesty and reliability which I carry through into my own private work.
Over the years I have tuned pianos for many schools, theatres, professional concert pianists, jazz musicians, music teachers, composers, churches and hundreds of private clients.
